- Master's degree in:
- - Hindi/Hindi Translation (with English studied at bachelor's level), OR

- - Both English and Hindi/Hindi Translation
- Minimum marks: 55% for SC/ST, 60% for others

Pre-Requisites for Applying Online
Candidates should scan and keep ready:
- Photograph: 200 x 230 pixels, 20kb–50 kb, passport size
- Signature: 140 x 60 pixels, 10kb – 20kb, should NOT be in CAPITAL LETTERS
- Left thumb impression: 140 x 60 pixels, 10kb – 20kb, properly scanned and not smudged
- Hand-written Declaration: 140 x 60 pixels, 10kb – 20kb, specific text in English only, written by candidate
- Live photograph: Capture using webcam/mobile phone
- Valid Email & Mobile: Keep active throughout process
- Payment Ready: ₹950 (General/OBC/EWS) or ₹175 (SC/ST/PwBD)
Declaration Text: "I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required."

- Register as new candidate and generate provisional registration number
- Fill application form and upload scanned documents

- Take printout of application form and e-receipt
Edit Window
After application closing, 2-day edit window available to correct/modify certain fields (Exam Centre, Father's Name, Mother's Name, 10th/12th Percentage) by making requisite payment.

The online examination consists of Objective Test (MCQs) and Descriptive Test.

- General Awareness: 30 Questions, 30 Marks, 10 minutes
- Quantitative Aptitude: 40 Questions, 40 Marks, 40 minutes
- Professional Knowledge: 50 Questions, 50 Marks, 40 minutes
- Total: 200 Questions, 200 Marks, 140 minutes
ECGC PO Descriptive Test
- Marks: 40 marks (Generalist: Essay + Precise Writing; Specialist: Essay + Translation)
- Duration: 40 minutes for both questions together
- Language: English only
Phase II: Interview
Only candidates qualifying in online written test will be called for interview.
Final Selection Criteria
- Merit Basis: Combined performance in Written Test + Interview
- Weightage: To be decided by ECGC management
- Merit List: Prepared category-wise and state-wise
Negative Marking
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the Objective Test.
